چکیده
The optical potential and observables for proton-Li elastic scattering are calculated microscopically using the single scattering approximation to the Kerman-McManus-Thaler multiple scattering expansion. The importance of the central and spin-orbit terms of the optical potential, and of the core and halo nucleon contributions, is clarified in terms of the momentum space behaviors of the nucleon-nucleon amplitudes and relevant density distributions. Calculations for the Li and Li systems at 60 and 62 MeV/nucleon, respectively, are compared with the available experimental data and with calculations and data for the proton-He system at similar energy. Three-body models of Li are used. The effects of the halo distribution in Li are clearly manifest in the elastic cross section but there are small differences between observables for structure models with realistic two-neutron asymptotic behaviors. Calculations suggest that the Li core structure is not realistically described by simple models. @S0556-2813~96!05009-1#

Impact of range straggling and multiple scattering on proton therapy of brain, using a slab head phantom
Background: The advantages of proton beam in radiation therapy- like small lateral scattering as well as absence of exit dose tail in the organs which are after the tumor- make it capable of delivering more treatment doses to the target and much lesser to the critical tissues near it. Materials and Methods: In this study, the Monte Carlo MCNPX code has been used to simulate a slab head phantom ...
متن کاملImpact of Various Beam Parameters on Lateral Scattering in Proton and Carbon-ion Therapy
Background: In radiation therapy with ion beams, lateral distributions of absorbed dose in the tissue are important. Heavy ion therapy, such as carbon-ion therapy, is a novel technique of high-precision external radiotherapy which has advantages over proton therapy in terms of dose locality and biological effectiveness. Methods: In this study, we used Monte Carlo method-based Geant4 toolkit to s...
متن کاملHELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c
In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are dete...
متن کاملProton reaction cross sections as measures of the spatial distibutions of neutrons in exotic nuclei.
Proton and neutron densities from Skyrme-Hartree-Fock calculations of a number of nuclei with masses ranging from 28 to 58 have been used to generate optical potentials for proton elastic scattering. Those potentials, generated by folding the structure functions with effective in-medium nucleon-nucleon (NN) interactions, have been used to evaluate proton total reaction cross sections; cross sec...
متن کاملCalculation of the triple and double cross sections in the proton-hydrogen impact at the ionization channel by removing singularity in the scattering amplitudes
In the present work, the triple and double cross sections of atomic hydrogen ionization in collision with the proton are calculated. The potential of the interaction is considered as a Coulombic; also, the first and second order Born approximations have been used. The singularity of the Green operator in the second order approximation has been removed for the analytical solution of the scatt...
